Starting a New U12 Select Team in AAYSA

Our new select teams usually consists of players who have come up from our recreational program that plays in the PGSI league. We make select soccer available starting at U11/U12 with the Anne Arundel Youth Soccer league our preferred league for the team. At U12 AAYSA plays 9v9 usually on Friday nights using lighted fields and it is a fun format for the players to get started with select soccer. There are several important team responsibilities that all select teams have to take care of. In order to help select teams get started, the club does more things for a new U12 team than for established select teams. Here are the things that a new U12 select team has to do for themselves.
  1. Equipment
    1. the club provides a set of equipment to a new select team to help get it kicked off. This includes a set of balls (#4), PUGG goals, cones, pinnies. equipment bag. The select team coach keeps these with them.
    2. You will transition to #5 size soccer balls at U13. You can trade in the #4 balls still in good condition for #5s next year.
    3. Other equipment needs are handled by the select team itself.
  2. Uniform Ordering - this is the responsibility of each select team. Details below
    1. Before you get too stressed over the uniform ordering process, realize that you can use our PGSI player T shirts in the meantime while you get this order placed. If you will need some player T shirts, we can include those in the order for the PGSI program.
    2. Our uniform vendor is Score Sports . They have very good quality uniforms at quite affordable prices. They also have some good deals on other equipment but you have to watch out for their shipping costs which can be high sometimes.
    3. Our sales representative is Fabiola Williams. She is very helpful but she does get busy sometimes. You can reach her by email or phone.

      2. 800 626 7774 Ext 1171
    4. A "Kit" consists of two complete uniforms (home is white/black and away is Lime/Black) so you order 2 jerseys, 2 pairs of shorts and 2 pairs of socks for each player. All select teams in the club wear the same "France" style uniform. Including shipping costs, the per uniform cost is about $40-45.
    5. The way to get started with the uniform ordering is to get the sizes of all your players. You will have to query each player to find out. Each uniform is custom with the number of the player so it is more difficult to order extras but they will need to be different numbers than you have used.
    6. Expect processing time of 7-10 days from when you place the order although it can get longer when they are backed up with orders.
    7. The first time you use the Score ordering spreadsheet it can be confusing. So just collect all the size information and we can help with getting the spreadsheet correct. The latest spreadsheet is available from Fabiola.
  3. AAYSA Documentation. There are 4 things needed to register the team. We need all of these things in pdf format (preferably in combined files) the week before the first game. Here is the link to all the needed forms.  The items are described below.
    1. Coach pledge (comes from you)
    2. Roster (includes all the information for each player)
    3. Player contract from each player. On this they must confirm that they have read the concussion awareness information
    4. Proof of age for each player (copy of birth certificate, passport, etc)
