Spring, 2021 Activities for High School age players!
Greenbelt Soccer Alliance is hosting practices at Schrom Hills Park in Greenbelt. There is no charge for these practices, but prior to starting any practices we will require that all participants - both players and coaches - be newly registered so that they are covered by the MSYSA insurance. This means that all players must register for these activities using the new GotSport registration system before they can participate in practices. Also, coaches must be newly registered with MSYSA which requires taking the concussion awareness and safesport training courses and having a background check. Our activities must adhere to the MSYSA Return to Play Guidelines linked below.
We are working with two leagues that are planning spring recreational soccer seasons for high school age players: Anne Arundel Youth Soccer (AAYSA) and Soccer Association of Columbia (SAC). The links for players and coaches to register for these activities is below. High School age players can also register just to practice with their coach.

Recreational Soccer
All preK-6th grade players receive professionally-directed practices every week of the season!
NEW! Now offering teams for 4 and 5 yr old players!
In the spring and fall, Greenbelt Soccer Alliance currently sponsors teams to play in two local pure recreational soccer leagues. Teams form and practice in New Carrollton or Greenbelt and play their games either in the PGSI league in Hyattsville (PGSI website here) or the Takoma Soccer league in Takoma/Silver Spring. Here is more information about the teams and formats of play. Both the PGSI and Takoma leagues offer competitive soccer in a format that places emphasis on fun and participation. The teams play hard to win, but scores are not recorded and standings are not kept in either league. Players are given at least 50% playing time in each game. PGSI offers small-sided soccer from grades K - 8. Takoma plays on larger fields and offers soccer from grades K up through high school. In general at Greenbelt SA, we encourage players to learn with the small-sided format in a pure recreational soccer environment, as endorsed by the US Soccer Federation, at least through grade 5 since it reinforces the fundamental ball-control skills that are at the heart of soccer at all levels of play and does so in an environment that helps to build a love of the game in our young players. Here is our blog posting on the benefits of playing on the small field.
Starting at U11/12, we offer tryout-based select and travel soccer for players and families that are ready to make more of a commitment to soccer.
All Greenbelt SA players are covered by comprehensive medical, dental and liability insurance provided through the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association.
